Hatiora salicornioides is a flowering plant in the genus Hatiora from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet comes from the Greek word salicornioides - oides for similar ' and the name of the genus Salicornia from.

Description

Hatiora salicornioides grows richly branched with erect to arching or arching stems that become woody with age. It reaches heights of growth of up to 1 meter. The deep green shoot segments are 1.5 to 5 inches long and have diameters of about 7 millimeters. They are club-shaped, often have a distinct stem-like base, are sometimes wrong bottle-shaped and are arranged in whorls at 2-6. The very small areolae are covered with short, fine bristles.

The golden- yellow to orange flowers are 1-2 inches long and have just such diameter. The gyro- shaped, white fruits are translucent.

Distribution, systematics and hazard

Hatiora salicornioides is widespread in the Brazilian states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Paraná at altitude 200-1750 meters. The first description as rhipsalis salicornoides in 1819 by Adrian Hardy Haworth. Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose they put 1915 in the genus Hatiora.

Hatiora salicornioides is highly variable.
