Rhodt is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Edenkoben. Rhodt is a nationally recognized tourist.

Structure
To Rhodt includes the residential places nursery boxes and mountain Rosengartenhof.
Climate
The annual rainfall is 767 mm. The deposits are located in the middle third of the detected values in Germany. At 56 percent of the stations of the German Weather Service lower values are registered. The driest month is April, the most rainfall comes in December. In December, falling 1.5 times more rainfall than in April. Precipitation varies only slightly and are distributed extremely evenly throughout the year. At only two percent of the weather stations, lower seasonal swings are recorded.
History
Probably took a first colonization of Rhodt at times of Roman rule in the 1st to 4th century instead. A first occupied historic date is the construction of the castle Riet ( Rippburg ) 1200-1204 connected. The inhabitants of Rhodt (then Rode ) are also mentioned in the Eußerthaler certificates.
Between about 1300 and 1603 Rhodt belonged to Württemberg and was given the nickname under Rietburg because it could be so different from the three Württemberg Rhodts. There was already in Rhodt wine - mainly Traminer - grown.
1603 acquired the Margrave Ernst Friedrich of Baden Rhodt by barter. The Baden ruled until 1801 about the place. The wine sales flourished and the prices achieved were very good. By trading Baden Rhodt was relatively rich and impressive wine cellars were built.
1798 Rhodt fell to the French, which was recognized in the Peace of Luneville 1801. Rhodt remained French until 1814 and then came under Bavarian- Austrian administration. On May 1, 1816 went with the rest of the Palatinate to the Kingdom of Bavaria.
After the Second World War Rhodt became a part of Rhineland- Palatinate.
Religion
2012 were 54.4 percent of the population Protestant and 24.4 percent Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

Coat of arms
The blazon of the arms is: " In red St. George in golden armor, on a supine lying on the ground green dragon standing and piercing him with a golden spear".
It was approved in 1844 by the Bavarian king and goes back to a seal of 1719. The colors red and gold are reminiscent of the former belonging to Baden.
Community partnerships
Rhodt maintains since October 17, 1959 a partnership, a so-called wine sponsorship, with the city of St. Ingbert Saarland, and, since 1967, a partnership with the community Vougeot in Burgundy. Moreover, since 1951, there is already a partnership with Kronach in Franconia.

The Villa Louis Height ( summer residence of King Ludwig I of Bavaria and his wife Therese ) lies above the village Rhodt under Rietburg.
The Riet Castle (505 m) is one of the attractions of the place. The castle can be reached by a footpath or using a chair lift. In the castle there is a level restaurant with panoramic terrace, a deer park and the castle starting several hiking trails.
80 percent of the houses in Rhodt are under monument protection. A tourist attraction is the paved road Theresienwiese, are in many old homes. Typical of the courts of Vorderpfalz are the old archways and the so-called " home - court construction ". The upper part of the road is created as an avenue of chestnut trees.
