Rhône -Alpes [ ʀo NALP ː ] is a region in southeastern France, named after the river Rhone and the Alps. The region consists of the departments of Ain ​​, Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Loire, Rhône, Savoie and Haute -Savoie. It has an area of ​​43,698 km ² and 6,283,541 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). Geography

History
