Rhythmic gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics ( RSG short ) or Rhythmic Gymnastics ( RG short, rhythmic gymnastics English ) is a gymnastic sport. It arose from the competition gymnastics with and without hand-held devices. RSG is performed with instrumental music accompaniment, but can be verturnt also by sounds in music. RSG is mainly characterized by gymnastic and dance elements and requires a high level body control, balance and rhythm. Rhythmic gymnastics was and is a pure woman sport, even if it is mainly in Japan and the United States was first RG competitions for men in recent years.

In rhythmic gymnastics, there are five handsets: rope, hoop, ball, club and band. In the age groups up to twelve years an exercise is conducted without apparatus.

Rhythmic gymnastics is represented in Germany by the German Gymnastics Federation ( DTB) and in Switzerland by the Swiss Gymnastics Federation (STF ). International Rhythmic Gymnastics as well as General Gymnastics, Artistic Gymnastics, Trampoline Gymnastics, Sports Aerobics and sports acrobatics by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique ( FIG, International Gymnastics Federation ) and the Union Européenne de Gymnastique ( UEG European Gymnastics Union) is represented.

Rules ( abstract)

Rhythmic gymnastics is performed on a 13 x 13 meter competition area with hoop, clubs, rope, ribbons and balls in line with music.

In Germany a distinction is made between the highest power level, the power class, and the competition class with slightly lower requirements. In the Student Performance Class ( SLK ), the ten - and eleven-year old gymnasts gymnastics exercises with two device and one without handset, the twelve year old three exercises with hand tools and without a handset. The junior performance class ( JLK ) and the Master Class (MK ) show four exercises with the conditions laid down by the FIG handsets. In the student competition category ( SWK ) are two exercises with equipment and required no device. The youth competition class ( JWK ) and the free competition class ( VCs ) should show in a competition three exercises with three of the five handsets.

According to the competition rules of the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique for international competitions the exercises take 1:15 to 1:30 minutes (single ) or 2:15 to 2:30 minutes ( group exercises) and no more than nine difficulty elements in singles and ten in the group included. The difficulty elements can come from the areas of jumps, stalls or spins. For the groups nor the device change will be added as difficulties.

The exercises are of the judges with respect to the body movement and the device-related value D ( max 10 points) and the artistry, and the execution rated E ( max. 10 points). The D- and the E- value may be added, it is max. 20 points will be achieved.

History

1941 found first competitions of this sport in Leningrad ( now St Petersburg) instead of / Soviet Union. Since 1963, every two years, the world championships are held.

After it had been in 1952 a team competition, with free choice of discipline within the turn competitions, the sport was independently and finally Los Angeles in 1984 with a single four-way battle with the four devices hoop, clubs, ribbon and ball olympic. 1996 Atlanta was a group competition added new.
