Ria Stalman

Ria Stalman ( born December 11, 1951 in Delft) is a Dutch sports journalist and former athlete. Their greatest success was winning the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the discus throw.

Ria Stalman was as early as 1973 Dutch champion in discus throw. This title they won a total of ten times, even she was five times national champion in the shot put. She studied at Arizona State University and also attended the U.S. Championships. This she won in 1982 and 1984 in the discus throw, 1984, in the shot put. However, their biggest success is winning the Olympic gold medal at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, which were boycotted by the Soviet bloc states. It was the same year Sportswoman of the Year in the Netherlands.

Today, she runs a boat rental in Amsterdam and comments for euro sport track and field events.
