Rian Johnson

Rian Craig Johnson ( born December 17, 1973 in Maryland, USA ) is a film director and screenwriter.

Life

Rian Johnson, born in Maryland, grew up in San Clemente in the U.S. state of California and graduated in 1996 at the USC School of Cinematic Arts his studies. His feature film debut Brick he funded with $ 450,000, which he borrowed from friends and family. Due to the low budget, he shot the film in his hometown of San Clemente, and chose as the central point of the film school, which he attended himself in his youth. Although his script for Brick was rejected by the studios as too unconventional for a first work, he got to the final film a very positive response, winning including the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2005. Rian Johnson also wrote for The Brothers Bloom, his second film as director, the screenplay. In 2010, Johnson directed an episode of the TV series Breaking Bad, called The Fly. On his third feature film, the 2011 action film Looper incurred with Bruce Willis, he was the first time working with a large budget. 2012 and 2013 led Johnson with two more episodes of Breaking Bad, in the episode 51 and Ozymandias Director. For the Director of the sequence 51 Johnson received a DGA Award from the Directors Guild of America.

Rians older brother Aaron Johnson is a music producer.
