Ribblehead Viaduct
The Ribblehead Viaduct is a railway bridge over the valley of the River Ribble at the foot of Whernside in the English county of North Yorkshire. The bridge was built in 1870-1874, designed by John Sydney Crossley. It is 32 meters high and 402 meters long and runs in a slight arc, so that you can see them from the moving train. The viaduct is the longest on the route of the Settle - Carlisle Railway. In the 1980s there were plans to shut down the track, but after protests they were dropped and, inter alia, the viaduct made roadworthy. However, since 1985 only performs a single-track line over the bridge.
