The variety was very popular and widely disseminated to the 19th century, but after the phylloxera disaster the stock fell sharply. The variety is almost exclusively in the hilly border region between Italy and Slovenia - grown - by Tarcento on the Karst up to Istria. In the plane she never used because the fertile soils are not suitable for the cultivation of orchards with vigorous growth variety.

There is also a Ribolla verde, but which is rarely grown because of the poor quality of the wine.
