Riccardo Calimani

Riccardo Calimani (* 1946 in Venice ) is an Italian writer and vice-president of the Jewish community of Venice.

He graduated as an electrical engineer at the University of Padua and completed a science- philosophical studies at the University of Venice from. He became famous for his numerous Judaic publications and through his work at the television station RAI. 1994 to 1998 he was director of the Palazzo Labia.

Most of his works were published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. These include the Dialogo sull'ebraismo, an edition of the Venetian rabbi Simone Calimani work from the 18th century. For I destini e le avventure dell'intellettuale ebreo of 1996 he received the Premio Tobagi, 2000, he published the Storia del Ghetto di Venezia, 2002 L' Inquisizione a Venezia. In 1997 he received the European Culture Award. He is currently President of the Fondazione Museo nazionale dell'Ebraismo e della Shoah in Ferrara.
