Riccardo Illy
Riccardo Illy (* September 24 1955 in Trieste ) is an Italian entrepreneur and former President of the Friuli- Venezia Giulia region.
Life
Illy was as a teenager in Piancavallo ski instructor and a sailing instructor in Monfalcone. Still very young, he married Rossana Bettini, a journalist for wine and gastronomy. Both have a daughter, Daria, who is a physical education teacher and personal trainer today.
He is since 1977 in the illycaffé 1933 paternal founded by his grandfather Hungarian origin operating SpA active. There he worked first as a business manager, then as a manager and finally to today as Vice President. He has the commercial structure and the controlled companies reorganized. For illycaffé he created the marketing department, which did not exist until now, and wrote " coffee. From the bean to espresso ", published by the Mondadori and into English, French and German was translated.
He was Vice President of the Industrial Association of Trieste and President of the Standing Veronelli seminar.
Illy was twice - elected mayor of Trieste, a third term is not allowed in Italy - in 1993 and 1997. As mayor, he has also assumed the office of Mayor of the City Opera Giuseppe Verdi.
Riccardo Illy was Chairman of the Research Committee of the European rail link through the Po Valley. From the President of the Italian Republic Komturwürde him and by the Austrian Federal President, the Golden Badge of Honour was awarded. Riccardo Illy was awarded an honorary doctorate in political science from the University of Trieste for his " lectio doctoralis " on the subject of the enlargement of the European Union.
2001 Illy was elected as a deputy to the Italian Parliament, where he served as Independent Member of the mixed fraction. He was a member of the IX. Parliamentary Committee (Transport, Posts and Telecommunications ) and Secretary of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee for the implementation of administrative reform.
Riccardo Illy has been heavily involved for the referendum on the direct election of regional presidents. Once this was decided, he was in the regional elections of 8 - 9th June 2003 coalition support Intesa Democrática elected President of the Friuli -Venezia Giulia. Five years later he presented himself again as a leading candidate of the center-left coalition, but his predecessor and candidates of PDL, Lega Nord and UDC, Renzo Tondo, had to admit defeat in the elections of April 13 and 14, 2008.
In 2007 he published under the title " La rana cinese " a book about the existing in his view failings in Italian politics. The foreword was written by Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
