Ricchi e Poveri

Ricchi e Poveri ( Italian for " rich and poor " ) is an Italian pop group, founded in Genoa in 1968. It consists now of Franco Gatti, Angela and Angelo Brambati Sotgiu. She has sold more than 20 million records.

The group took part in the Euro Vision Song Contest 1978 and finished with the title Questo Amore in 12th place in the 1980s, the group was also successful in Germany. Among the well-known hits include Sarà perché ti amo, Mamma Maria, Voulez vous danser, Che sarà, Made in Italy and Ciao Italy, ciao amore. With Se m'innamoro the group won the 1985 San Remo Festival.

Today's three-member group originally had a fourth member. At Origin occupation of the group included not only Franco Gatti, Angela Brambati and the Sardinians Angelo Sotgiu also Marina Occhiena. Angelo and Franco previously belonged to the group Jet, from some members of the band Matia Bazar came. Their debut had Ricchi e Poveri at Musikwettberwerb Cantagiro in 1968 with L'ultimo amore. In 1970 they reached the San Remo Festival with her song La prima cosa bella together with Nicola Di Bari second place. Also in 1971, they managed second place with Che sarà and this time were on par with Jose Feliciano. For her album I Musicanti of 1976 Bardotti Sergio and Luis Enriquez Bakalov composed of two stories of musicians and a song that was presented at the 25th San Remo Festival the same year. Both 1976 and 1977 she undertook a theater tour with Walter Chiari. Ricchi e Poveri 1978 represented Italy at the Euro Vision Song Contest with Questo amore and reached the 12th place. Her song Come Vorrei was the final song for the popular TV show Portobello.

1981 Marina Occhiena had to leave the group, because she entered an affair with the husband of Angela Brambati, and was henceforth solo act. Ricchi e Poveri remained threes successfully, for example with Sarà perché ti amo, which they presented in 1981 in Sanremo and remained as a single ten weeks at the top of the Italian charts. SÁRA perché ti amo was also the biggest selling Italian Single of the Year. It was followed by other hits like Mamma Maria, Voulez vous danser and Ciao Italy, ciao amore.

In 1985, she won the San Remo Festival with Se m'innamoro and 1988 she participated with Nascera Gesù, which was discussed the dangers of genetic engineering and written by Umberto Balsamo. Ricchi e Poveri 2002 brought another album, Parla col cuore out and 2004 she participated in the reality show Music Farm, which was presented by the moderator Amadeus and where they competed against Loredana Bertè and reached the third place. Almost all successful songs of the group were written by Cristiano Meinellono and Dario Farina.

2012 appeared the comeback album Perdutamente Amore.

Miscellaneous

Their song Mamma Maria in 1983 recorded by Conny & Jean in a German version, as well as 2010 by Diana Sorbello. 2003 coverte the Italian dance band Euforia Sara Perche Ti Amo song, another version was published in 2008 by Diana Sorbello as That's because I love you. Sarà Perché Ti Amo experienced a further mention, as the songs on the soundtrack of the award-winning (and controversial ) French horror film Haute Tension was set.
