Ricco Groß

Ricco Groß ( born August 22, 1970 in Schlema ) is a biathlon coach and former German biathlete.

Life

Ricco Gross was active since 1983 in the sport of biathlon and since 1990 member of the German national team. Until 1991, he coached at the SG Dynamo Cínovec, since 1991, he was last in the rank of First Sergeant in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Berchtesgaden and trained at the Ski Club Ruhpolding.

For Olympic Winter Games was large with the German biathlon relay between 1992 and 1998 three times in a row and in 2006 Olympic champion, in individual races, he won two silver and one bronze medal. Thus, Ricco Gross is next to Sven Fischer of the most successful German male athlete at the Olympic Winter Games.

In addition, United has a total of nine times world champions, including five times with German squadrons. His last success at World Championships were the two world champion titles at the Biathlon World Championships 2004 in Oberhof. In the 1997/98 season he finished second and 2002 /2003 and 2003/2004 respectively third in the overall World Cup.

In March 2007, Ricco Gross ended his sports career and began with a coach training at the Coaches Academy Cologne DOSB, which he successfully completed in 2010. He also supervised the Dutch biathletes Herbert Cool volunteer in Ruhpolding Biathlon base. Since the season 2010/11 he looked as a discipline coach next to the conducting discipline coach Gerald Hoenig the highest German biathlon women's national squad.

Since the Biathlon World Cup 2007/08 season Ricco Gross worked at the ARD as an expert commentator. He accompanied the men's race there, especially while Uschi Disl performs the same function for the women's race. Dyslexic and large solved in this function from the former biathlete Magdalena Forsberg.
