The Rice Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County in the northwest corner of the U.S. state of Illinois.

Geography

The Rice Township is located in northwest Illinois on the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Iowa. The border with Wisconsin is located about 20 km north.

The Rice Township is located at 42 ° 19'51 " north latitude and 90 ° 22'55 " west longitude and covers 77.02 km ², it spread over 63.29 km ² of land and 13.73 km ² water surface.

The Rice Township is bordered Jo Daviess within the County in the north to the East Galena Township, on the northeast by the Guilford Township, on the east by the Elizabeth Township, and on the south by the Hanover Township. On the opposite bank of the Mississippi in Iowa is the Jackson County.

Traffic

The Rice Township is touched only in the extreme northeast of the Illinois section of the Great River Road forming U.S. Highway 20. Through the central part of the Township proceed no further highways, but only partly unpaved County Roads and other secondary roads.

Through the Rice Township performs a running along the Mississippi line of BNSF Railway.

The nearest airports are about 40 km to the north in Wisconsin Platteville Municipal Airport and about 45 km west located in Iowa Dubuque Regional Airport.

Population

In the census of 2010, the Township had 338 inhabitants.

Within the Rice Township, there are no independent municipalities. The population lives predominantly in two settlements on community- free area ( " Unincorporated communities " ):
