Richard Adjei

Richard " Richy " Adjei ( born January 30, 1983 in Dusseldorf ) is a German bobsleigh brakeman and American football player. His biggest sporting achievement was the silver medal as a brakeman in the two-man bob at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.

He grew up in Dusseldorf Flingern - up as the son of a Ghanaian father and a German mother.

He began his career as a footballer at the Dusseldorf Panthers. In 2002 and 2003 he was a member of Team Europe at the NFL Global Junior Championship Games, which will be played before the Super Bowl. In 2003 he was in the Germany squad. In the years 2004, 2005 and 2006 he played for the native of his home team Rhein Fire. Until the termination of the NFL Europe Adjei was linebacker of the football team Berlin Thunder. Since 2008 he plays again for his club Dusseldorf Panthers first by 2010 in the second Bundesliga and then in the 1st Bundesliga.

After him no NFL club had wanted to commit, he was discovered by the Olympic champion Christoph Langen, who looked around for new athletes for a young team and recruited him as a brakeman for the team Manuel Machata. Together with Manuel Machata, he became in 2009 Vice World Junior Champion and European Cup overall champion in the year. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he reached in the two-man bobsleigh as brakeman Thomas Florschütz the silver medal. As a brakeman by Manuel Machata he was 23 January 2011 European champion in four-man bobsleigh. On 27 February 2011, he was as a brakeman by Manuel Machata world champions in four-man bobsleigh.

In April 2010, he rises with a handball in his third sport. When TSV Kaldenkirchen from Nettetal he plays in the regional league team in defense.

He attracted attention in 2007 when he saved a toddler from drowning in Tampa, Florida.
