Richard B. Boone

Richard Boone ( born February 24, 1930 in Little Rock, Arkansas; † February 8, 1999 in Copenhagen ) was an American jazz musician (trombone, vocals).

Leen and work

Boone sang with five years in the choir of a Baptist church; twelve, he played trombone in the school band. After his service in the Army, he spent several years in Germany and France before 1953, he studied music at Philander Smith College in Little Rock. Then he went in 1960 as a studio musician and club to Los Angeles, and worked a number of times with Dexter Gordon (1960 and 1975 ), with Della Resee ( 1961-66 ) and Count Basie ( 1966-69 ). He entered this time also with his own band, in which he came into existence with blues, scat and yodelling. From 1970, he frequently stayed in Denmark, where he worked among others in big band projects by Ernie Wilkins, Thad Jones and The Danish Radio Bagband. In 1990, he toured for three weeks with European musicians in a club in Nairobi; In the same year he recorded with Elly Wright. On his album A Tribute of Love (1996/ 98) he can also be heard with Katrine Madsen.
