Richard Barnfield

Richard Barnfield (* 1574, † 1627 ) was an English poet of the Elizabethan age.

Life

His life largely unsecured data ( Baptism June 13, 1574, enrollment in 1589 in Oxford) is based on late archival research. The still standing today interested in Barnfield is mainly due to its narrow, but largely obscure relations with William Shakespeare. He is said to have come to London in 1593.

Works

When his anonymously published, successful debut album The Affectionate Shepherd applies (1594 ), Two months later ( 1595 ) was followed by his second work Cynthia, with Certain Sonnets, and the legend of Cassandra. It was followed by The Encomion of Lady Pecunia ( 1598 ) and The Complaint of Poetry for the Death of Liberality. 1599 The Passionate Pilgrim was published with the author stating " By W. Shakespeare" on the title page. Oddly enough, the poem booklet contains two poems by Richard Barnfield, as well as from other poets ( Griffins, Marlowe ).
