Richard Carlson

Richard Carlson ( born April 29, 1912 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, † November 21, 1977 ) was an American actor.

Life

After studying and teaching drama in Minnesota, he began in the 1930s, performing at Broadway. In 1938 he got his first film role in the film The Young in Heart. He worked as a freelance actor, who appeared in many film studios and moved to California in 1939. Before the Second World War, Carlson was mostly seen in dramas or comedies.

Much like many actors Carlson served in World War II and interrupted for his career as an actor. After he returned, it was more difficult to find new roles for Carlson. In 1948, he received roles the films Behind Closed Doors and The Amazing Mr. X. However ebbed his career in Hollywood slowly.

In 1950 he received the lead role in the film King Solomon's Mines and began to rebuild his career. He found work in the recent re-emergence of science fiction and horror B-movies in the 1950s. He appeared in numerous horror and science fiction films, including three 3-D movies: The Maze and danger from space with Barbara Rush, The Creature from the Amazon with Julie Adams and The Magnetic Monster.

The 1950s turned out to be busiest time for Carlson. In addition to his film work, he now also appeared in television series continue, eg in Led Three Lives; other films were A life of noise and the tower of screaming women. For some films, he was also active as a director.

Carlson died in 1977 at the age of 65 years. He was buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery, West Los Angeles.
