Richard Danzig

Richard Jeffrey Danzig ( born September 8, 1944 in New York City ) is an American lawyer and former Secretary of the Navy under President Bill Clinton from 1998 to 2001.

Danzig studied law at Yale University and philosophy at the University of Oxford, where he also received his doctorate. Between 1972 and 1977, he taught law at the Universities of Stanford and Harvard before he worked in various positions in the U.S. Department of Defense from 1977.

Currently, Danzig has worked among others as a senior consultant for the think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. Since the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States is speculation about the future use of Danzig. He is a candidate for the post of National Security Adviser, as well for the post of Deputy Secretary of Defense under Republican Robert Gates, he could replace later. He is married and has two children.
