Richard Dembo

Richard Dembo ( born May 24, 1948 in Paris, † November 11, 2004 ) was a French film director and screenwriter.

Life and work

Dembo was just as famous with his first film world: La diagonal du fou ( German: duel without mercy or Hazardous trains). This film made in 1984 was awarded an Oscar for best foreign language film. Michel Piccoli played in this film an orthodox Soviet citizens. At issue here is a chess game between him and a dissident in exile.

1993 turned Dembo the film L'instinct de l'ange with Hélène Vincent, Jean -Louis Trintignant, François Cluzet and Lambert Wilson. After a long time turned no new movies, he was planning a new movie: La maison de Nina. However, he was unable to realize this plan. Dembo died on 11 November 2004 in Paris.
