Richard III, Duke of Normandy

Richard III. (C. 1001; † August 6, 1027 ) was the third Duke of Normandy.

He was the son of Duke Richard II, whom he succeeded in 1026. He died shortly after the accession to the throne under mysterious circumstances and could have no influence on the fortunes of Normandy. He was succeeded by his younger brother Robert I the Magnificent. He was engaged to Adela ( Adelheid ) of France, daughter of King Robert II of France. After Richard's death, she married the Count Baldwin V of Flanders.

Richard III. had illegitimate children by two unknown women:

  • Agnes of Evreux
