Richard Jones (composer)

Richard Jones (* in the late 17th century; † January 20, 1744 in London ) was an English violinist and composer of the late Baroque.

Life

Richard Jones was predicted by the music critic John Hawkins prior to 1723 member of the orchestra at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London. From 1730 he took over the position of concert master in succession by Giovanni Stefano Nelli Carbo. As a violinist, he was known for his decoration technique in Italian style and its double handle technology. He worked as a violin teacher, composer Michael Christian Festing is counted among his students.
