Richard Long (actor)

Richard Long ( born December 17, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, † December 21, 1974 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Still in high school played Long in 1945 on the side of Claudette Colbert and Orson Welles in Tomorrow is eternity. This was followed by roles in movies such as The The Stranger, The black mirror and daring alibi. After separating from his Universal movie offers went back, he now appeared predominantly in television series on, including a recurring role in Maverick and 1959 to 1960 starred in the detective series New Orleans, Bourbon Street. After the end of this series Long played the role of Rex Randolph in 77 Sunset Strip on. After two guest appearances in the Twilight Zone was followed in 1965 his most famous role as the eldest son and respected attorney Jarrod Barkley in the Western series The Big Valley. Subsequently, he played in the 1970 and 1971 another major role in the family series Nanny and the Professor and appeared in an episode of Bonanza.

In 1954, Long married actress Suzan Ball, who died of cancer the following year. Since 1957 he was married to Mara Corday, also an actress and model, with whom he had three children. Richard Long died in 1974 at the age of 47 years from the effects of heart disease.
