Richard Pombo

Richard William Pombo ( born January 8, 1961 in Tracy, California) is an American politician. Between 1993 and 2007 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Richard Pombo visited between 1979 and 1982, the California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. After that he worked as a farmer and rancher. He was also a founder of the San Joaquin County Citizens Country Alliance. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. In the years 1991 and 1992 he sat in the council of Tracy.

In the congressional elections of 1992, Pombo was the eleventh electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Tom Lantos on January 3, 1993. After six re- election he was able to complete in Congress until 3 January 2007 seven legislative sessions. In his time as a congressman of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. Pombo was considered a conservative MP. He supported the Iraq war, among other things. Between 2003 and 2007 he was chairman of the House Resources Committee.

In 2010, he ran unsuccessfully in the Republican primary for the congressional elections.
