Richard Robbins (composer)

Richard Stephen Robbins ( born December 4, 1940 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, † November 7, 2012 in Rhinebeck, New York) was an American film composer and pianist.

Robbins became known for his work for the Merchant Ivory Productions, a film production company, which was founded in 1961 by James Ivory and Ismail Merchant. From 1980 to 1984 Richard Robbins was director of the Music School at Rivers in Weston, Massachusetts. For his music to the films Howards End and What Remains of the Day, he was nominated for an Oscar.
