Richard Robinson, 1st Baron Rokeby

Richard Robinson, 1st Baron Rokeby (* 1708 or 1709; † October 10, 1794 in Clifton ) was Anglican Archbishop of Armagh.

Richard Robinson attended from 1720 to 1726, the Westminster College in London and then from Christ Church College at Oxford University. He served as chaplain of the Archbishop of York, and in 1751 the Duke of Dorset, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. Robinson was in 1761 Dean of Christ Church, Dublin. From 1765 to 1791 he was Lord Almoner and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dublin, Bishop of Leighlin and Ferns and of Kildare and from 1765 to 1794 Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland. 1777, the Irish title of Baron Rokeby was created for him.

In 1790 he founded the Armagh Observatory.

Robinson is buried in Armagh in the grave vaults of St. Patrick 's Cathedral.

His cousin was Matthew Robinson, 2nd Baron Rokeby ( 1713-1800 ).
