His admission into the Order was 1961. 1970 he was consecrated in the " parish to the pure heart of Mary ," in the place of residence of his parents in West Topeka priest. In the same year he was introduced by a Jesuit in the Enneagram and also finished his theological studies at St. Leonhard seminar in Dayton with the master degree. During his studies he was above all as " Brother Happy " because the findings from the regular Bible study and his personal feeling filled him with enthusiasm.

After many years of involvement in the peace movement, pastoral work and leadership of New Jerusalem, he was elected to the leadership of his order and put in a sabbatical year in the hermitage of Thomas Merton.
