Richard Rosser, Baron Rosser

Richard Andrew Rosser, Baron Rosser ( born October 5, 1944) is a former British trade union leader and politician.

He originally worked for London Transport and was then union employee at the Transport Salaried Staffs ' Association ( TSSA ). where he represented the employees of London Transport in negotiations with management. He climbed in the union hierarchy and was soon elected in 1989 one of the two Deputy Secretaries-General and General Secretary of the union. Rosser was re-elected twice, he was a total of 15 years in office until he retired in 2004. This term of office was only surpassed by Alexander Walkden, who was in office from 1906 to 1936. He was also a magistrate and chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party.

After his retirement, he was appointed as Baron Rosser for Life Peer. He sits for Labour in the House of Lords. His research interests are criminal nature except the transportation; he was chairman of the Prison Service Audit Committee and the Board of Prison Service change programs board.
