Richard Sainct

Richard Sainct (* April 14, 1970, † 29 September 2004 in Egypt) was a French off-road motorcycle racer who won the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1999, 2000 and 2003.

When the Pharaohs Rally in Egypt 2004 KTM riders Richard Sainct was killed. The accident happened on the first special stage four on a sandy, but particularly fast section between Bahariyya and the oasis of Siwa.

To honor their colleagues, renounced the motorcyclists of the 2005 Dakar on the starting number 1, which would have been due the previous year's winner.
