Richard Sinclair

Richard Sinclair ( born June 6, 1948 in Canterbury ) is an English progressive rock and fusion musician (bass, vocals, guitar). He was active in several bands of the Canterbury scene closely linked, including Wilde Flowers, Caravan, Delivery, Hatfield and the North, Camel and Phil Miller's " In Cahoots ".

Musical career

Mid-1960s was Sinclair as a guitarist and singer member of the Wilde Flowers. Three other Wild Flowers musician, Pye Hastings (guitar and vocals), Sinclair's cousin Dave Sinclair ( keyboards) and Richard Coughlan (drums) founded in 1967 with bassist Dave Lawrence, the band Caravan. Even before the release of their first album in 1968 replaced Sinclair bassist and remained member of the band for the first four albums, including the 1971 published In the Land of Grey and Pink, which is considered a classic of the Canterbury brand of progressive rock.

1972, after the release of the fourth album Caravan Waterloo Lily, Sinclair left the band and joined the band reunited with guitarist Phil Miller on Delivery, keyboardist and drummer Pip Pyle Steve Miller. A short time later Dave Stewart took over the keyboard part, and the band was called in Hatfield and the North to and published until its dissolution in 1975 two albums.

1975-1976 Sinclair led his own band with the name " Sinclair and the South" - to the changing occupations included, among others, Dave Sinclair, violinist Dave Arbus, drummer Bill Bruford and guitarist Mark Hewins.

1977 Sinclair joined on request of drummer Andy Ward of the band Camel and participated in a concert tour and the recordings for two studio albums.

In 1981, he took with Phil Miller, keyboardist Alan Gowen (from Gilgamesh and National Health ) and drummer Trevor Tomkins Album Before a Word is Said on. In the same year he became a founding member of Phil Miller's band " In Cahoots ".

In 1992, Sinclair, Dave Sinclair, Andy Ward and Rick Biddulph the band " Richard Sinclair 's Caravan of Dreams ", which released two albums.

In 2005 and 2006 he participated in reunions of Hatfield and the North; during her concert tour 2006 Pip Pyle died unexpectedly, his place on drums took over Mark Fletcher.
