Richard Stanley (film director)

Richard Stanley ( born November 22, 1966 in Fishhook, South Africa) is a director and screenwriter. He is a great grandson of the explorer Sir Henry Morton Stanley. He currently lives and works in London, England.

He has directed such films as M.A.R.K. 13 - Hardware ( 1990) and Dust Devil ( 1993) and worked among others in several music videos for the band Fields Of The Nephilim, as well as a fifty-minute DVD video for the British rock group Marillion for their album Brave.

Stanley was the original director of the film DNA - The Island of Dr. Moreau, but was replaced by John Frankenheimer.

He has made two documentaries; The Secret Glory ( 2001) in which it comes to the search for the Holy Grail by the SS under the First Lieutenant Otto Rahn, and The White Darkness (2002) examined which Vodoobräuche in Haiti. Both documents are available as a bonus on the Dust Devil DVD Box, published by Subversive Cinema in September 2006.

He also produced low-budget short films such as the sci-fi film The Sea of ​​Perdition which premiered in October 2006 at the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya. Other short films were, inter alia, Black Tulips and Children of the Kingdom ( 99, - € budget ) of the Film Festival was shown at Oldenburg. 2007 Richard Stanley wrote a new script (there was at the time already a 15 year old, whose contents were discarded) for a successor to MARK 13 - Hardware, named Hardware II: Ground Zero. In addition, it is unclear who owns the rights.

His latest Action-/Thriller-Film called The Bones of the Earth ( 2009) by a former soldier of the U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan returns to his native Scotland. In January 2012, he was recruited for the horror anthology film The Profane Exhibit and will be directed at the coltan segment. In 2011 he wrote the screenplay and directed the segment " The Mother Of Toads " of the horror anthology film The Theatre Bizarre.
