Richard Tandy

Richard Tandy ( born March 26, 1948 in Birmingham ) is a British keyboardist, who is best known as a member of the Electric Light Orchestra.

Career

Tandy attended the Moseley School, where he for the first time his future bandmates Bev Bevan met. In 1970 he played as a studio musician and harpsichord keyboards when shooting the band The Move, when Bevan was a drummer.

After Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne and Bevan, the Electric Light Orchestra founded, Tandy was initially hired as a tour musician for after the first album's release following live performances. Following the departure of Wood from the band Lynne occupied it entirely for the second album. Tandy, who had initially played bass, now moved to the keyboards. Until the dissolution of 1986, he remained the only permanent member next to Lynne and Bevan, with the naming rights but half each of these documents and all the other band members were practically only employees. In addition to the keyboards he played on several albums also guitars and was involved in the arrangement of the orchestra.

Tandy also acted in other productions Jeff Lynne outside the band, including shots with Dave Edmunds, The Everly Brothers, George Harrison and Tom Petty, as well as Lynne's solo album Armchair Theatre. He also worked as a studio musician for Earth, Wind & Fire and Black Sabbath.

In 1986, Tandy with Dave Morgan, the Tandy Morgan Band. Morgan had already been working for The Move as a composer and temporarily as a live and studio musician for ELO.
