Richard Wright (artist)

Richard Wright ( b. 1960 in London) is a British artist and musician.

Career

Wright's family moved with him as a child to Scotland. Between 1978 and 1982 he attended the Edinburgh College of Art and studied from 1993 to 1995 at the Glasgow School of Art, where he graduated with a Master of Fine Art. He lives and works in Glasgow.

With his artistic work, he tries to embellish architectural spaces with sophisticated geometric patterns in color and gold leaf.

For his golden fresco in the second room at Tate Britain, he was awarded on 7 December 2009 the Turner Prize.
