Richard Yuricichs interest in visual effects began in the 1960s, first as an amateur photographer. This was quickly followed in 1968 with 2001: A Space Odyssey, his first major project.

In the following decades he was responsible for the camera work in productions such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind or perhaps his most famous work Blade Runner. Involved with these two films was also his brother Matthew Yuricich, a matte painter. The Losers from the 2010 Richard Yuricichs 's most recent film.

By his own admission he is among the " graduates of the class of 2001 ". As Richard Yuricich practically does not give interviews and " press shy " applies, very little is known about the background of his work and his private life.
