Richard Zeckwer

Richard Zeckwer ( born April 30, 1850 in Stendal, † December 30, 1922 in Philadelphia ) was an American composer of German origin.

Zeckwer studied at the Leipzig Conservatory. In 1870 he settled in Philadelphia as an organist and music teacher. From 1876 to 1917 he led the Philadelphia Musical Academy. He composed two overtures, a string quartet, a violin and four piano sonatas, piano pieces and songs. His son Camille Zeckwer became known as a composer.
