Richie Regehr

Richard " Richie" Regehr ( born January 17, 1983 in Bandung, Indonesia but grew up in Rosthern, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player (defender).

Career

Regehr was taken on July 6, 2004 ungedrafteter players from the Calgary Flames as a free agent contract - the team with whom his brother Robyn Regehr plays and now is one of the main cast and one of the most sought-after defenders of the National Hockey League.

During the NHL lockout in the 2004/05 season playing for the Lowell Lock Monsters Regehr, the farm team of the Calgary Flames in the American Hockey League.

In the season 2005/ 06 Richie Regehr was then sent by the Calgary Flames to their new farm team, the Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights. When, towards the end of 2005, with Rhett Warrener and Roman Hamrlík failed due to an injury defenders of the Calgary Flames, Regehr was appointed to the NHL team. In his first NHL game on December 29, 2005, he even scored an assist in the game-winning goal. However, after three games, the Flames sent him despite good performances back to the Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights. On 7 January 2006, on 2 February 2006 Regehr was reappointed for a few missions in the cadre of Calgary Flames.

Regehr also replaced his appointed to the Flames squad teammate Mark Giordano at the Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights in the Canadian All-Star team in the AHL All- Star Classic in 2006., Where he scored a goal and an Assist

In the 2006/07 season played Regehr also at the Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights. Because of a severe concussion he incurred by an elbow check in an NHL game, but he only came to 22 games. Furthermore, he played in six games this season for the Calgary Flames. On 19 December 2006 Regehr scored in a game against the Los Angeles Kings his first and only NHL goal.

For the 2007/2008 season moved Regehr for the first time in his career to Europe and played one season for the Frankfurt Lions in the DEL, failed with his team but in the semifinals at the Cologne Sharks. During this season he scored 24 goals in 54 games and 23 assists and took part for the team at North America DEL All-Star Game. But also a very good offer of Frankfurt manager Dwayne Norris could not hold in Frankfurt, so he moved to the 2008/09 season for reigning German champion and cup winner Polar bears Berlin, where he became German champion three times Regehr.

2012 Regehr moved to Sweden to MODO Örnsköldsvik.

Trivia

Richie's brother Robyn played until his move to the Los Angeles Kings in April 2013 also already once stood for the Calgary Flames, for Richie under contract.
