Richie Sandoval

Richard " Richie" Sandoval ( born October 18, 1960 in Pomona ) is a retired American boxer of Mexican descent.

Childhood and youth

Sandoval was born in the known good boxers (including Shane Mosley ) town of Pomona, California. His brother Alberto fought in the 1970s bantamweight and twice fought unsuccessfully for the World Champion title. In Pomina Sandoval also met another future world champion Alberto Dávila, who became one of his best friends.

Career

Amateur

1979 Sandoval won the light flyweight (-48 kg), the U.S. Championships in 1980, he repeated this title in the flyweight (-51 kg)
