Richmond Hill, Ontario

Richmond Hill [ ˌ ɹɪtʃmənd hɪl ] is a city in the Regional Municipality of York just north of Toronto in Ontario. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area in Canada and had the year 2011 185.541 inhabitants.

History

The area was first mentioned by royalists and British settlers and 1801 first as Miles Hill ( Abner Miles, a famous immigrants). Later it was renamed in Mount Pleasant ( pleasant hill ).
