Richmond P. Hobson

Richmond Pearson Hobson ( born August 17, 1870 in Greensboro, Hale County, Alabama, † March 16, 1937 in New York City ) was an American politician (Democratic Party).

Career

Richmond Pearson Hobson attended private schools and the Southern University. He graduated in 1889 at the United States Naval Academy and in 1893 at the French National School of Naval Design in Paris. Hobson served from 1885 to 1903 in the U.S. Navy. During this time he worked as a naval architect, writer and lecturer. In addition, he was Special Representative of the Navy Department at the Buffalo Exposition of 1901 and the Charleston Exposition 1901-1902.

Hobson also pursued a political career. He was elected to the 60th U.S. Congress and reelected to the three succeeding U.S. Congresses. In his candidacy, 1916 at a nomination for the 65th U.S. Congress, he suffered a defeat. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives on 4 March 1907 to 3 March 1915.

He then moved to Los Angeles and from there later to New York City. He directed the 1921 American Alcohol Education Association, where he pursued a job as Secretary-General. Then he straightened 1923, the International Narcotic Education Association, where he held the position of President. Then he straightened, 1926, the World Conference on Narcotic Education, where he served as General Secretary and Chairman of the Board. In the following year he founded the World Narcotic Defense Association, where he pursued a job as president.

Hobson was later in 1933, the Medal of Honor awarded, which he earned in 1898 for the sinking of the Merrimac coal transporter. In the following year he was promoted to Rear Admiral.

Then he founded in 1935 the Constitutional Democracy Association, where he has also served as president. He died a year later in New York City, his body was then transferred to Virginia, where he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
