Richmond (Queensland)

Richmond is a small city located 498 kilometers west of Townsville and 406 kilometers east of Mount Isa in Queensland in Australia. Richmond has an airfield and is inhabited by about 550 residents. The place is located at the Flinders Highway and Flinders River and is the administrative seat of the homonymous local government area ( LGA) Richmond Shire Council.

Richmond is home to the Kronosaurus Fossil Corner, a museum, in which about 200 fossils exhibits are on display. Richmond is located in the center of an ancient inland sea in which the Kronosaurus, the largest previously known genus of Pliosaur was found. The first fossil of Kronosaurus in 1889 found there. In addition to this museum are available for tourist accommodation and a swimming pool with a campsite.
