Richmond Renegades

The Richmond Renegades were an American ice hockey team from Richmond, Virginia. The team played from 2006 to 2009 in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 2006 as a franchise of the Southern Professional Hockey League. In the city they filled the gap left by the Richmond Riverdogs of the United Hockey League in the same year. The Renegades were even named after an eponymous team of the ECHL. In the SPHL they belonged in the three years of its existence to the mediocrity of the league and occupied respectively the fourth and fifth. In the playoffs, they failed in the first two seasons in the first round ( against the Knoxville Ice Bears and Fayetteville FireAntz ), while they missed this in the 2008 /09 season. Subsequently, the franchise was dissolved.
