Richmond (Victoria)

Richmond is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is located about 3 km southeast of the city center and is located in the administrative area ( LGA) City of Yarra. At the last census in 2011 the population was 23 814.

The multi-faceted neighborhood was gentrified in the early 1990s with the result that it now consists of a colorful mixture of various types of buildings, in addition to expensive converted residences are found in the former warehouses of social housing, in between skyscrapers and Victorian terraced houses. The City Council of Richmond, yet another outstanding building, was built in the 1880s and renovated in the 1930s. It is now the administrative center of the LGA City of Yarra.

With one of the oldest buildings of Melbourne include the built in rustic Gothic Revival style row houses in James Street 13 and 15 It was in 1857 for Eneas Mackenzie, an official who built and now belong to the National Trust of Australia.
