Rick Crawford (politician)

Eric Alan Rick Crawford ( born January 22, 1966 in Homestead Air Force Base, Florida) is an American politician of the Republican Party. As a member of the House of Representatives since 2011, he represents the 1st Congressional District of the State of Arkansas.

Crawford, whose father served in the U.S. Air Force, spent four years in the Army bomb disposal and was promoted to sergeant. After his service he joined in 1996 to study in Agricultural Economics from. He then worked as a reporter for radio and directed a farm news network that stretched across five southern states with 39 radio stations.

Crawford in 2010 ran against two competitors for the Congress seat of Democratic incumbent Marion Berry. On 5 January 2011 he was sworn in as a member of the 112th Congress. He is the first Republican who represents his district in Washington since the reconstruction period after the Civil War. Crawford is a member of the Agriculture Committee and the Transportation Committee and the Republican Study Committee.

With his wife and two children, he lives in Jonesboro.
