Rick Rubin
Rick Rubin ( born March 10, 1963 as Frederick Jay Rubin on Long Iceland, New York) is an American music producer. In 1984 he founded together with Russell Simmons still a student at the University of New York, the music label Def Jam Recordings. Starting with hip-hop, but he soon produced also other styles of music. After a dispute with Simmons, he founded his own label "Def American ," which was renamed American Recordings 1993 1986.
Ruby is generally regarded as one of the most influential and respected producers of the present, even as MTV named him "the most important producer of the last twenty years."
In negative headlines and financial difficulties Rubin came in 1995, when a fire in his house the musician Genesis P -Orridge ( Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV) was seriously injured. P -Orridge sued for pain and suffering because he suffered several years of motion due to the burns.
Since May 2007 Rubin is co- chief of Sony / BMG belonging label Columbia Records. His appeal is deemed to include as a sign of rethinking, with which the music industry wants to save the crisis. Rubin argues for a new form of music marketing in the form of a subscription model.
2006 and 2008, Rubin was in the category of " Producer of the Year " won a Grammy.
