Rick Snyder

Richard D. "Rick" Snyder ( born August 19, 1958 in Battle Creek, Michigan ) is an American politician and since January 1, 2011 the Governor of the State of Michigan.

Life

After leaving school, Snyder studied economics and law at the University of Michigan. After graduation he was employed from 1982 to 1991 at the consulting firm Coopers & Lybrand in Detroit. In 1991 he moved the company Gateway, which he became president in January 1996. In August 1997, he left Gateway and founded the investment company Avalon Investments, together with the Gateway founder Ted Waitt. From 1997 to 2000 he was President of Avalon Investments. Snyder, 2000 was a co-founder of the investment undertaking Ardesta LLC in the year. Again joined Snyder from 2000 to the board of Gateway, where he served until 2007, when Gateway was sold to the Taiwanese company Acer. In addition, he sits on the board of the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan.

Snyder is a member of the Republican Party. On 2 November 2010 he won the gubernatorial election in Michigan. He followed on 1 January 2011, the Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm in office.

Rick Snyder is married and has three children. He lives with his family in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
