Rick Warren

Richard Duane "Rick" Warren ( born January 28, 1954 in San Jose, California) is an American clergyman and author of religious books.

Rick Warren is pastor of the evangelical megachurch Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California whose services are crowded on weekends from an average of 22,000 people. Rick Warren has enjoyed his education at Baptist institutions. The founded by his church ( Saddleback Church ) is a Baptist church and belongs to the Southern Baptist Convention.

Curriculum vitae

Warren was born on January 28, 1954 in San Jose, the son of Jimmy and Dot Warren. His father was pastor of a Baptist church, his mother a librarian.

After his high school graduation he studied theology and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California Baptist University in Riverside and in 1979 a Master of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. In addition, he received his doctorate at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena ( California). In addition, several honorary doctorates were awarded to him.

Rick Warren is married with his wife Kay three adult children (Amy, Josh and Matthew ) and two grandchildren. On April 5, 2013, Matthew took his own life. He suffered from severe depression for some time.

On January 20, 2009 Rick Warren spoke a prayer of intercession at the inauguration of Barack Obama.

The book The Purpose Driven Life

Warren is through his book The Purpose Driven Life: become known, has topped the section for bound counselor on the bestseller list of the New York Times for over two years ( German -Driven Life ).
