Rickard Wallin

Rickard Wallin ( born April 9, 1980 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since May 2010 Färjestad BK in the Elitserien under contract.

Career

Rickard Wallin began his career as a hockey player in the youth of Färjestad BK, for the first team, he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 1998/99 season. Previously, he has been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the sixth round as a total of 160 players from the Phoenix Coyotes for which, however, he never played. Instead, the attacker ran in the 1999/00 season for IF Troja Ljungby - in HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second division, on, before he played from 2000 to 2002 again for Färjestad in the Elitserien. With Färjestad he was Swedish Champion in the 2001/ 02 season for the first time.

In summer 2002, Wallin was taken by the Minnesota Wild under contract for the 19 games he scored ten points scorer in the following two seasons. The majority of his time in Minnesota, he spent but at their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Houston Aeros, with whom he won the Calder Cup in the 2002/03 season. During the lockout the NHL season 2004 /05 Wallin was in Houston, but returned then to Sweden to his former club from Färjestads back, with which he was champion for the second time in 2006. For the season 2006/ 07 he was bound by reigning Swiss champions HC Lugano. He did not renew after a year of his contract so that he once again returned in the summer of 2007 to Färjestad, which he led as captain for the third league title of his career in the 2008 /09 season.

In summer 2009, the Swede won a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. At the end of the season this was not renewed, so Wallin returned to Sweden and re- signed a contract with Färjestad BK.

Internationally

For Sweden Wallin took part in the U18 European Junior Championships in 1998, the U20 Junior World Championship in 2000, as well as the World Championships in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 in part.
