Ricky Berens (born 21 April 1988, in Charlotte, North Carolina ) is an American swimmer.
Ricky Berens studied at the University of Texas and is effective for the Longhorn Aquatics at. His coaches are Randy and Eddie Reese. He qualified surprising at the U.S. Trials for the Olympic Summer Games in 2008. Than 200 m freestyle, he finished third and was originally intended only for the run up to the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay. However, a strong performance in the run earned him a place in the relay, with which he was then in the final, with Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Peter Vanderkaay, in superior style and with a time of 6:58,56 minutes Olympic champion. For the first time, a time was set up under seven minutes. The world record was thereby improved by almost 4 ½ seconds. A year later, the U.S. squadron succeeded at the World Swimming Championships 2009 in Rome, a further improvement of the world record by a hundredth of a second, in the occupation of Michael Phelps, Ricky Berens, David Walters and Ryan Lochte won the season the world title before the Russian squadron.
