Ricky Walden

Ricky Walden ( born November 11, 1982 in Chester ) is an English snooker player.

Career

His professional debut was Walden in 2000. Earlier, he had been regarded as the most talented young players. Within a short time Walden then climbed 30 world ranking places upward. His best result was the first of the quarter-finals of the China Open 2005. Even with the not belonging to the Snooker Main Tour Swiss Open, he could make 2005 his prowess, when he entered the finals and defeated Ken Doherty 5-3.

In 2008, he won his first full ranking tournament with the Shanghai Masters. He beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final of 10:8. For this success he was given a wildcard for the Snooker Masters 2009. During the season 2010/11 he managed for the first time into the top 16 in the world rankings. But shortly after he fell from this select group out again.

In the PTC series Warsaw Classic 2011 Minor - ranking tournament he only lost in the final of the Australian Neil Robertson. At the 10th PTC Event 2011 he succeeded against Gareth Allen his first maximum break - it was the 81 official maximum of snooker history. When Wuxi Classic 2012, he defeated Stuart Bingham in the final and thus won his second ranking tournament.

The Snooker World Championship 2013 Walden pulled first time in his career in the semi-finals of a World Cup one, but where he succumbed to 14:17 Barry Hawkins.

In August 2013 he won the Bluebell Wood Open by a 4-3 final win against Marco Fu.

Walden lives in Flintshire in Wales.
