Rico Freimuth

Rico Freimuth ( born March 14, 1988 in Potsdam ) is a German decathlete.

Freimuth won the 2007 with 7524 points, the bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in Hengelo. In 2009, he increased his best performance at 7689 points, 2010 he reached 7826 points. In 2011, he surpassed the all-around meeting Götzis with 8158 points for the first time the 8000 -point mark, one and a half months later qualified Freimuth in Ratingen with 8287 points for the world championships in Daegu, retired from there but after the long jump. 2012, Freimuth increased in Götzis on 8322 points, surpassing the standard for the London Olympics, where he finished sixth with 8320 points. At the World Athletics Championships 2013 in Moscow, he reached 8382 points 7th place

Rico Freimuth launched 2005-2013 for the hall 's athletics friends and since 2014 for the SV Halle. He trained under Wolfgang Kuehne, who was runner-up in 1979 the GDR in the decathlon. He is a sports soldier in the German army and is managed by the Sports Promotion Group of the Bundeswehr in Frankenberg / Saxony.

Freimuth is 1.95 meters tall, his competition weight is 90 kilograms. Rico Freimuths father Uwe Freimuth was fourth World Cup in 1983 and has a personal best of 8792 points, his uncle Jörg Freimuth won the Olympic bronze medal in the high jump.
