Rico Rex

Rico Rex ( born October 5, 1976 in Karl- Marx-Stadt ) is a former German figure skater.


For figure skating came Rico Rex through the selection process in the GDR. He began at the age of four years with the ice-skating in the former Karl -Marx-Stadt. For the Chemnitz EC, he started under coach Steffi Ruttkies first as individual runners.

In 1993, Rex joined the pair of running with Silvia Dimitrov. The pair reached as best international result to 8th place at the European Championships in 1996. Dimitrov ended in 1997 due to injury their pair skating career.

By 2000, Rex ran with Catherine Rybkowski ( Düsseldorf EC). The pair trained with Monika Scheibe in Chemnitz, but could not qualify for the European and World Championships. It was followed by an interlude with Stefanie Weiss, but with her ​​not even started Rico Rex at German Championships. In open French Championships in 2001, the couple had to give up. 2001 Rex ran along with the Czech Radka zlatohlávková. At the German Championships in 2002 but the couple had to give up. As a result, the couple separated again.

Since the spring of 2002 Rico Rex ran along with the former German individual race champion Eva -Maria skein. Rex ended with his partner Eva -Maria skein after the conclusion of the pairs figure skating competition at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006 and a 15th place his career as a figure skater. From then on he worked as a project manager at a Dresden marketing agency.

In 2006, Rex as a coach along with Collien Fernandes elm at the RTL show Dancing on Ice part, but separated already into the second episode. Rico Rex was during his time performance sports sports soldier in the German army in the sports promotion group in Frankenberg. His rank has been Sergeant.

Rico Rex is currently working as a freelance trainer in Berlin.
